Why have people got a problem with people with naturally red hair?

The only problem I have with natural redheads is that it's difficult not to stare. I LOVE red hair. My wife had red highlights when we first met (it was one of her most eye-catching features... one of many :-), and in some lights even now she still "reads" as a redhead (and she has that wonderful milky-creamy redhead skin that feels like rose petals).

Our youngest daughter was a full-fledged "coppertop" from about six months through the age of four or five, and still has strawberry-blonde hair and grey eyes today. And our son is blond with a strawberry tint.

And yet... I know what you mean. When our redhead daughter's hair was the brightest (exactly the color of a freshly minted copper penny), people would ask the STUPIDEST questions. "Did you dye her hair?" was a common one -- this about a six-month-old baby. And the opening scene of "Life With Father" shows the new Irish maid making some gesture (warding off bad luck, I've been told) when she sees each of the red-haired sons of the Day family come down the stairs to breakfast.

So I don't know what the problem is, but I sure don't have one. If you ever start a Red-Head Appreciation Society, drop me a line. :-)

I think that everybody is getting a bit paranoid that people they like are talking smack about them. Let's change that. Let's spread love and stroke egos.

I think its just a mith,,people think redheads are too feisty and get annoyed real easy,cant say I have met a feisty or nasty one yet..

I'd love to tell you that I think gingers are pretty hot, but let's face it, it's pretty easy to take the piss. One of the funniest questions I ever saw on here was 'is it true all gingers smell of piss?'

I must admit mine is naturally red and I don't like it much but I would not dye it another colour as I could not be bothered

Ugly. It's usually wiry enough to break combs and is accompanied by a sallow skin colour flecked with unsightly ginger freckles and -- I hear the villagers getting their pitchforks! -- red eyelashes!

Or maybe that's just a throwback to my childhood when I had a classroom enemy, Dana, who looked like that...
